When you work with PSP, you've got to have fast access to both the Layers Palette and the Tool Options. In PSP 6, these can be set to automatic rollups, that stay out of your way, until needed. I
like to keep mine on the Tool Bar, giving maximum screen space to the work area. Of course, there are always those times you'd like to have even more space, so...
Here, I've gone into the 'View- Toolbars-' menu and unchecked the box for the Toolbar, and moved the rollup headers into the name bar. In both cases, the box stays out of the way until you put the
cursor on the header, activating the rollup. If you don't do anything in the box, as soon as you move the cursor off the box, it'll roll back up. Once you place focus on one of the rollups, it'll
stay active until you click off of the rollup. Use the blank area under the rainbow palette on the right side of the screen if you don't want to do anything in the work area.
Some don't like the automatic rollup actions of the palettes, so there is a way to lock them in the down position. If the arrow at the upper right of the palette is pointing down to a bar,
automatic rollup is active, pointing up, the palette is always active.
I recommend that if possible, you use the automatic mode, since it opens up the work area.
